Talking to reporters at some event a couple of hours ago, Diego once again got in front of some microphones and made his case as the best footballer of all time, he said:
“In 2000 I won the Player of the Century award thanks to the people. Pele was second. He also came second behind Senna as Brazil’s greatest sportsman. The award that FIFA gave Pele isn’t worth shit.“
* You may know that back in 2000 Maradona was voted the Player of the Century off of 53% of an internet-based vote commissioned by FIFA, but FIFA haaaaad to recognize Pele’s achievements and they named him at the top of FIFA’s “Football Family” at the same ceremony.
